Review:
Epic! is a reading and learning platform loaded with books, videos, and ebooks for students in the elementary age range. The program features books across multiple school – subject domains as well as both fiction and non-fiction options. Epics! is also available in multiple languages. In my context, I like to use Epic! as one of our center choices in Language Arts class. Sometimes, I’ll curate titles I want my students to read, or they have free choice of a book the students would like to read or listen to.
Epic! could be classified as an instructive app as well as a knowledge-skill building app devoted primarily towards enhancing reading skills…a basic literacy. Further, Epic! touches on a few of the Learner’s needs highlighted in Table 5.1 including, but not limited to “think independently, use learning resources, attain goals, possess well-founded self-confidence etc.”
