Hey there!
My name is Thomas (TJ) Bartholomew, and I am currently working as a 4th grade teacher at a charter school in the Lehigh Valley. I grew up in Quakertown, PA…a suburb of Philadelphia. After high school, I moved on to complete my undergrad degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. It was there that I earned my teaching certificate in 2016 and packed my bags for my Jacksonville, FL teaching 3rd grade. Two years later, I ended up back in Pennsylvania to teach 5th grade and then eventually 4th grade, which is where I’m at now. I think I bring a unique perspective into the classroom with my teaching experience along with the LDT research I’ve been conducting throughout my time as a Penn State student.
This class, LDT 505, will be my 7th class towards my Master’s Degree in Learning Design and Technology. From this class, I hope to better myself as an educator to continue making positive impacts on today’s learners. As computers become more relevant in the classroom, I want to learn how to harness these technologies in order for students to reach their full potential. The influx of technology into classrooms as a response to the coronavirus pandemic will have lasting impacts, so the challenge of using technology skillfully is something I wish to master.
